BLS Training for the Workplace: Skills That Make a Difference

When a cardiac emergency happens at work, the actions taken in the first few minutes can be critical. Employees trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) are better prepared to recognize cardiac arrest, begin high-quality CPR, use an AED, and work together as a coordinated response team.

Why Early CPR Matters

The American Heart Association reports that immediate CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Yet many people experiencing cardiac arrest still do not receive CPR from a bystander before emergency responders arrive.

Every minute counts. Prompt CPR helps maintain circulation to the brain and vital organs while emergency medical care is on the way.

What BLS Training Teaches

BLS training develops practical, lifesaving skills, including:

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, as applicable to the course.

  • Early recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system.

  • Safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

  • Appropriate ventilation and coordinated resuscitation techniques.

  • Effective team communication, role assignment, and performance under pressure.

Prepare Your Team to Respond

Workplace preparedness starts with people who know what to do. Whether you are maintaining a professional certification or arranging training for your employees, BLS education helps build the skills and confidence needed to respond when every second matters.

Invest in training today. Help your team be ready when it matters most.

Every second counts. Every skill matters

Why Early CPR Matters: Every Second Counts

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, often without warning. When the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively, the brain and other vital organs are deprived of oxygen. Without immediate help, the chances of survival decline rapidly.

CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival when started promptly. Chest compressions help circulate blood to the brain and vital organs while emergency medical services are on the way. CPR may not restart the heart on its own, but it can buy valuable time until an automated external defibrillator (AED) or advanced medical care is available.

The Facts About CPR

  • More than 350,000 people in the United States experience cardiac arrest outside a hospital each year.

  • Approximately 42% of adults experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest receive CPR from a bystander.

  • About three out of four out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home.

  • Research shows that starting CPR within the first few minutes can significantly improve the chances of survival and favorable neurological recovery.

You Could Save a Life

Imagine a loved one, coworker, or stranger suddenly collapsing. Would you know what to do?

Recognizing cardiac arrest, calling 911, starting CPR, and using an AED as soon as one is available can make a critical difference. You don't need to be a healthcare professional to provide lifesaving assistance.

CPR and first aid training gives you the knowledge, hands-on practice, and confidence to respond when someone needs help most.

Be Prepared. Be the Difference.

Emergencies are unpredictable, but your response doesn't have to be. Learning CPR and first aid is an investment in your family, workplace, and community.

Don't wait until an emergency happens to learn what to do. Get trained, build your confidence, and be ready to help save a life.
